Mary Victoria Carter

Mary V. “Vikki” Carter, 80, of Marion, died Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Presidential Center in Marion.

She was born August 23, 1941 in Bucyrus to the late Frederick G. and Lois I. “Sally” (Chandler) Herschler. Vikki was a 1959 graduate of Bucyrus High School and went on to earn her RN degree from Ohio Northern University. She was well respected by her peers and cared for many patients at various health institutions in both Crawford and Marion counties. Vikki also served as a traveling RN for several years.

When not working, Vikki was most likely found reading. She read thousands of books and had the gift of being a speed reader. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren and touched a lot of lives over her years spent working in healthcare.

Vikki is survived by children, Dan Anspach, William “Chip” Carter, Victoria “Vikki” Samuels, and John Carter; three grandchildren, Renae (Josh) Foit, William Samuels, and Morgan J. Carter; great grandson, Scout Foit; sister, Madge “Molly” (Bob) Case; as well as many extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Vikki was preceded in death by infant twins and two brothers, Bill Herschler and Frank Herschler.

No public services will be held at this time. Anyone wishing to donate in her memory are encouraged to make contributions payable to Alzheimer’s Association. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service, who assisted with her arrangements. Memories are encouraged to be shared on her tribute wall.
