Mary Louise Brown, 97, died Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Maplecrest Assisted Living.

She was born August 18, 1918 in Darlington, SC to the late James and Nannie (Tinkler) Thompson and was a 1936 graduate of Thomasboro High School. Mary received her business certificate from King’s Business College in Charlotte and shortly thereafter moved to Miami. While working at hotel, she met Jack A. Brown whom at the time a 2nd Lieutenant was serving in the Air Force and on January 2, 1943 they were married. She and Jack enjoyed many years of traveling and she loved doing crafts and working with flowers.

Mary cared for her family as a homemaker and will be remembered for her sewing and cooking talents, with her biscuits being a family favorite. She also spent several years working at Baumel’s and G.E. Mary was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus where she was active in Cotta. She also held membership with the King’s Daughters and Sons, In as Much Circle, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and was very supportive of the YMCA. She loved helping others and volunteered much of her time at the Bucyrus Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, Red Cross Grey Lady and delivered Meals on Wheels.

Mary is survived by two sons, Jack A. Brown, Jr., of Monroe, LA and Greg Brown of Bucyrus; six grandchildren, Cassandra (Barry) Herschler, Samuel (Jenna Draper) Brown, Candace (Michael Olshavski) Brown, Christopher (Shawna Wilburn) Brown, Nathaniel Brown and Corey Brown and four great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Jack Brown, two sisters, Mildred Dixon and Cecil Missmer.

Private funeral services will be held at Wise Funeral Service with burial to follow in Sandusky Twp. Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are encouraged to be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to International King’s Daughters and Sons through the funeral home.
