Mary Kay West

Mary K. West, of Boca Raton, FL, and formerly of Bucyrus passed away while under the care of Palm Beach Hospice on June 3, 2010. Mary K was born in Frederick, Maryland and was a graduate of Tiffin High School. From the beginning Mary K was destined to devote her life to the helping and caring of others. She became an RN in 1940 and graduated from Frederick Hospital School of Nursing in Maryland. She will be remembered for 31 years of service during her nursing career at Bucyrus Community Hospital. In her retirement she enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army, socializing with the Red Hatters, and participating at the YMCA. Mary K was predeceased by her husband, Ward B. West, after 36 years of marriage. They were both members of Good Hope Lutheran Church. She is survived by her two daughters, Jeanne Staretz and Joyce Kocsis; her son-in-law Jack Kocsis; three grandchildren Randy Ulmer, Rodney Ulmer and Marci Seger; five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son-in-law Marvin Ulmer. A funeral service will be celebrated at Wise Funeral Service on Friday, June 25 at 1 PM. The service will be officiated by son-in-law Rev. Jack Kocsis. Friends may visit from 12 to 1 on Friday before the service. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Bucyrus Community Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
