Marvin B. Swart

Marvin B. Swart, 87, passed away early Monday, July 4, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.



He was born April 10, 1935 in Vinton County, Ohio to the late Rev. Harry M. and Grace “Anna” (Peters) Swart. Marvin graduated from Waterloo High School in Athens County in 1953. Marvin relocated to Bucyrus, where he met a young lady named Wilma Miller at church and they were married April 12, 1956. He then served in the US Army from 1958-1960. Marvin worked for 43 years at Swan Rubber in Hydraulics.



Marvin will be remembered for his quiet and kind spirit. He was a family man of deep faith who worshiped at the former Kaler Ave. Church of Christ in Christian Union where his father was the former pastor. He enjoyed woodworking, making crafts, painting pictures, and gardening. Marvin was quite the handyman who always kept his home and cars in good working order. Marvin and Wilma also enjoyed frequent trips to the Smoky Mountains and Amish Country.



Marvin is survived by sons, Douglas Swart, Kevin Swart, and Duane (Rose) Swart; sister, Ruth Barth; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Wilma on September 18, 2021 and two brothers, Luster and Robert Swart.



Services will take place Monday, July 11 at Wise Funeral Home in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends from 11 am – 12:55 pm followed by the funeral at 1:00 pm with Marvin’s nephew, Rev. Mark Barth, and Pastor Vernon Lore officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery with military honors by the US Army Honor Guard.
