Marjorie A. Young

Marjorie Young, 85, of Bucyrus, passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Carlisle Place.

She was born July 17, 1939 in New Washington, to the late Charles H. and Mary E. (Zornes) Young and was a 1957 graduate of Lykens High School. She spent many years working at General Electric and retired in 1994.

Marjorie loved being outdoors, where she was often found tending to her flowers and saw to it that her home was neat and tidy. Marjorie shared many travels with family and friends and saw some fascinating sights over her lifetime. Music was also a very important part of her life. She was a member of the Statler Brothers Fan Club and was fortunate to see them in concert on countless occasions as well as various other musicians. Several years ago, Marjorie took up painting and for the most part was self-taught. She painted on canvas, serving trays, bowls and glassware and much of which became gifts for family and friends. When not painting or listening to music, Marjorie enjoyed relaxing with old western movies.

She was a longtime member of the Bucyrus Nazarene Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and Marjorie often read from her Bible.

She is survived by seven siblings, Donna (Levi) Miller, Diane (Danny) Tomkins, Wanda (Stan) Rupinski, Mary (Bill) Weber, Bonnie (Dennis) Metzger, George (Sally) Young and Sharon (George) Gallant as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six siblings, Dorothy and Troy Young who died during infancy, Carl and Clifton Young, Alice Stander, and Janet Klahn.

Her family will receive friends from 10-10:55 am Monday, August 19 at Wise Funeral Service, followed by her funeral service beginning at 11:00 am with friend and former neighbor, Pastor Tom Gruver officiating. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.

Donations can be made payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook page.
