Marilyn Brewington, 73, of Bucyrus died Friday, February 10, 2017 at Mill Creek Nursing in Galion where she was under hospice care.
She was born in Lexington, Ohio to the late Russell and Pauline (Cornish) Freel and attended Mansfield Senior High School before starting her family. She was a dedicated employee of Blackhawk Automotive in Upper Sandusky for nearly 40 years.
Marilyn will be remembered as a feisty, fun and selfless mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved any excuse to be with her children and grandchildren by cooking up a great meal to share or coloring Easter eggs and celebrating holidays. Her dad instilled a love for fishing from the moment she could stand up and hold a rod and reel. She fished with him from Minnesota to Ohio and always loved Lake Erie the most. At home, she kept a small garden and dearly loved her pets, both the cats and especially her birds. Her cockatoos and parrots made her world go around and even earned her the loving name of “Grandma Tweet” by her grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by five sons, Keith Vermillion of Bucyrus, Rob Vermillion of North Carolina, Paul Vermillion, Vernon (Jenny) Vermillion, both of Bucyrus, and Travis Brewington of Galion; 12 grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Amber, Cory, and Brian Vermillion, Meredith (Kyle) Sullivan, Nicholas, Austin, Levi, Micah, and Hannah Vermillion, and Jarod Brewington; one great granddaughter, Nova Marie Brewington; brother, Russell (Cheryl) Freel of Mansfield; sister-in-law, Connie Freel of Ontario; a special cousin, Joan Wilder, along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy “Butch” Freel and infant siblings, Michael and Sharon Freel.
Marilyn’s funeral will be held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus on Thursday, February 16 at 7:00 pm with Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday prior to the service from 5-6:45 pm. She will be buried on a later date in Oakwood Cemetery.
Those wishing to remember Marilyn with a memorial donation are asked to give to Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on her Tribute Wall.
