Marian G. Shupp

Marian G. Shupp, 89, of Bucyrus passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, September 17, 2012 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.

She was born October 8, 1922 in Holmes Twp. to the late Oran and Lotta (Shirk) Sponseller. After graduating from Holmes-Liberty High School in 1940, she worked at G.E. until her marriage to Maurice Shupp July 19, 1942. Maurice passed away on July 5, 1981 and Marian was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Marian is survived by three daughters, Sue (Duane) Stucky of Marion, Ill., Nancy (Bernard Lee) Bowen of Bucyrus and Cindy (Bill) Morgan of Marysville; two sons, Gary (Bonnie Norman) Shupp and Kenny (Cheryl) Shupp, both of Bucyrus; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Stetzer of Bucyrus and two sisters-in-law, Donna Ritzler and Jean Sponseller.

Marian was a sweet, quiet lady who will be remembered for her excellent cooking, especially pies and baked goods, and the love she had for her family. She enjoyed playing piano and organ at home and was always up for playing cards or a board game, even watching the Game Show Network when not playing a game of her own. She had the opportunity to travel all over the U.S. including Hawaii and Alaska and she crocheted countless afghans for family and friends over the years. Marian worshipped as a member of Brokensword, Lykens and, currently, Scioto United Methodist Church.

The Shupp family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 20 from 5-8 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where the funeral will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Glory Geib officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Scioto U.M.C. and given through the funeral home.
