Lois M. Leuthold

Lois M. Leuthold, 88, of Bucyrus went home to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, January 31, 2012 at her residence.

She was born October 29, 1923 in Pysht, Washington to the late Floyd and Ruth (Helvey) McDonald, Sr. She graduated from Mead High School in Spokane, Wash. When she was 20, she met a soldier from Ohio named Reuben Leuthold. After a brief courtship, they were married December 25, 1943 and shared nearly 67 years together before he preceded her to Heaven October 11, 2010.

Lois came to Bucyrus with Reuben where he worked on the family farm. They returned to the northwest, then Illinois, while Reuben attended bible college before moving back to Bucyrus to support him in his ministry. Once her children were in high school, she decided to follow her passion and attend nursing school at Marion General Hospital. She worked as a nurse at Bucyrus Community Hospital for over 20 years and continued following advancements in medicine well after retirement. Lois was an independent thinker who gave of herself in everything she did. She enjoyed sewing and cooking, especially for family gatherings, and looked forward to shopping trips and driving to see Christmas lights in recent years.

Lois is survived by her sons, David Leuthold of Bucyrus and Daniel Leuthold and wife, Karen of Midvale, Idaho; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and her siblings, Floyd (Virginia) McDonald, Jr., Rich McDonald, Evelyn (Tony) Destefano, Marilyn Anderson, Gary (Sandy) McDonald and Roger McDonald.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was reunited in Heaven with a great grandson.

Friends may call from 12 noon-2 p.m. Saturday, February 4 at Wise Funeral Service followed by a procession to Oakwood Cemetery where a graveside funeral service will be held with Pastor Dan Rebon officiating. Contributions may be given to The Father's Hands Extended Soup Kitchen through the funeral home.
