Linda M. Stewart

Linda Mae Stewart, 74, of rural Bucyrus, passed peacefully on October 28, 2021, at her home following a recent decline in health.



Linda was born May 23, 1947, in Bucyrus to the late James W. and E. Martha (Dunn) Pyles. She was a 1965 graduate of Bucyrus High School and on January 23, 1971, married “her man” Burnard Stewart. Linda worked at various factories for a number of years and later received her Microsoft Office Certification though training in Tiffin. She then took an office manager position at Gary’s Equipment in Republic, where she worked for several years, retiring in 2009. She was a Jehovah’s Witness and loved spreading the good word of Jehovah to others.



Linda was happiest when her home was full of family. She loved cooking big meals and if you left the table hungry, it was your own fault as there was always plenty of food. She taught many of her grandchildren to swim with many trips to the Bloomville pool and, also, taught them to cook and bake with her ooey gooey bars being a family favorite. Linda could often be found making her homemade butter or canning vegetables from their very large garden. They shared many good times camping at Roger’s Lake in Sycamore, but Linda’s favorite pastime was dancing. She, Burnie and friends would gather at various Moose Lodges or wherever there was music, and they’d dance the heels off their shoes to the hillbilly stomp. She dabbled in ceramics, which became gifts for family and friends. For relaxation, Linda enjoyed reading or watching John Wayne movies with a bowl of butter pecan ice cream and preferred her favorite four-legged feline, Mikey, by her side.



In addition to Burnie, her husband of 50 years, Linda is survived by children, Michael (Stacy) Stewart, Steven Stewart, Rhonda (Samuel) Jones, David (Barb) Basore, Ronda (Ron) Scott and Tami (Zach Dalton) Lamperez; grandchildren, David, Sierra, Alisha, Aaron, Brittney, Micaela, Mariah, Christopher, ReeAnna and Colin; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Colleen Pyles; special longtime friend of both she and Burnie, Carolyn Vincent as well as many extended family members.



She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Whiteman and Ted Pyles and one sister, Karen Sites.



Linda’s family gathered privately to celebrate her life. If desired, donations can be made payable to the Wyandot County Humane Society. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service, who assisted with her cremation arrangements. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her tribute wall.
