Linda Lee Coffman, 75, of Bucyrus, passed on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Riverside Hospital. She had been battling lung cancer; however her death was unexpected.
She was born May 14, 1949 in Bucyrus to the late Wilbur J. and Sabria Jane (Rush) Moser. Linda was an honor student who graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1967 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University. While at Bowling Green, Linda was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She began her teaching career in Cincinnati and taught in Philadelphia before returning home to Bucyrus. Linda positively impacted the lives of many students at Bucyrus City Schools, mainly teaching reading and math for 30 years before retiring in 2004. Even after retirement, Linda loved to keep in contact with former students as to learn of their successes.
In the mid-1970s, Linda was introduced to Roger L. Coffman by her uncle Harry. The two hit it off and married on June 30, 1977. He survives and they’ve shared many great adventures over their 47 years of marriage.
Linda was an active member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church, where she was the “decorator and chief”, played in the bell choir, was active in Bible studies, helped with meals, the Bratwurst Festival stand and did about anything else asked of her. She also spent time serving Meals on Wheels, was a member of New Era Club, and The 100 Women Who Care.
Linda will be remembered for her bright smiles which became contagious to others. She and Roger shared many travels and cruises all over the world; wintered in Florida for the past 20 years; and she enjoyed 65 years of memories through her time spent at Summer Breeze Park and Marina in Port Clinton, which led to many boat trips on “Between Naps”, their 29 Tiara Open. Linda thoroughly enjoyed the game of golf, which was introduced by her father shortly after high school and in addition to the rounds spent with Roger, she loved her Thursday evening Ladies League at Valley View. She was involved in a couple of different card clubs, bridge with the ladies and euchre with Roger and other couples. But of all that Linda did, time spent with her grandchildren made her happiest. MiMi, as she was referred to, made any and all visits special. There were trips to Cosi and the zoo, as well as many days spent shopping and watching movies. Her loved ones kept her going and she will be forever remembered.
She is survived by husband Roger; children, Lee Coffman, Toby (Sonya) Coffman and Kim (Jason) Lynn; grandchildren, Danielle Coffman, Stephen (Karcey) Coffman, Nathan (Abbey) Coffman, Coty (Melissa Shepherd) Coffman, Abby Lynn and Annie Lynn; great grandchildren, Grace, Claire, Savannah, Annalisa, and Lunafrey; sister, Rebecca “Becki” (Alan) Pinkus and nephews, Eric (Megan) Kimble and Christopher Kimble.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by a grandson, Cade Coffman and a brother-in-law, Dean Coffman.
Visitation for Linda will be held from 5 – 8 pm Wednesday, January 8 at Wise Funeral Home. Her funeral will take place at 11:00 am Thursday, at Bucyrus UMC, 227 S. Walnut St., Bucyrus with Pastor Becky Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
If desired, donations can be made payable to the Bucyrus UMC and will be accepted through the funeral home or at the church on morning of service. Photos and memories are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
