Lewana S. Shumaker, 61, of Marion and formerly of Bucyrus, died Monday, September, 6, 2010 at Heartland of Marion. She was born on May 2, 1949 in Boone County, West Virginia to the late Taylor and Lola (Oney) Adkins. Lewana graduated from Scott High School in West Va. and then moved to Bucyrus. She worked as a cosmetologist for a number of years in Bucyrus owned and operated, Your Crowning Glory. Lewana then worked at Private Industry Council (PIC) as an intake specialist. She loved crafts and was a creative person. She worked with flowers, made wreaths and ceramics. She also loved people and always wanted to take care of others. She is survived by one daughter Jennie Thomas and her husband Frank of Marion, one granddaughter, Allyiah Thomas and her long time loving companion, Charles M. Slaughter of Bucyrus; one sister-in-law, Willie Mae Addison of Bucyrus in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lewana is preceded in death by an infant son, Paul; infant niece and nephew, Ronda Sue and Jeffy; a nephew, Johnny Ray; two brothers, Buddy and Glenn Adkins and two sisters, Glenna Parlette and Carol Powers.
