Larry Lee Knodell, 72, of Bucyrus went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, November 7, 2016 at his home after an extended battle with COPD.
He was born May 28, 1944 in Bucyrus to the late Gaylord “Dick” Knodell and Doris (Laipply) McAdams. After high school, Larry joined the US Marine Corps, serving honorably from 1963-1967. He worked for Anheuser Busch for many years, and then as an independent contractor in carpentry prior to retiring.
He’ll be remembered by his family and friends as a dedicated, hardworking man, who had a sarcastic, but loving, sense of humor. Larry was most proud of his kids, and appreciated any time spent with them. Larry enjoyed John Wayne movies and hanging out with loved ones. He also loved baseball, particularly the Cleveland Indians, who disappointed him for the last time just a week ago.
Larry is survived by children, Larry Jr., Lance, Madison, and Gage; stepdaughter, Lisa; three siblings, Lois (Jim) Smith, Rick Knodell, and Lori (Brad) Niedermier; his close friend and previous wife, Jodie Knodell; close friend and caretaker, Paige Parker and family; along with a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Lori; stepfather, Arden McAdams; stepmother, Patti Lutz; brother, Jim Knodell; and infant sister, Sue Ann Knodell.
Because Larry supported St. Jude’s monthly, he would encourage all family and friends to give memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus to assist with expenses. Though no services are planned, you can remember Larry by sharing your memories and photos on Larry’s Tribute Wall.
