Larry J. Borland, 67, of 525 Hill St., Bucyrus, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at his home.

Larry was born in Marion on March 5, 1943 to the late C. Darreld and Maxine (Ferguson) Borland. He graduated from Ridgedale High School in 1961 and received his B.S. in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1965 and his Masters in Education from BGSU in 1970. He taught Spanish and World History in Defiance High School from 1965-68 and Spanish and English in Wynford High School from 1968 until retiring in 1996 after 31 years of teaching.

Mr. Borland is survived by his wife, Pat A. Borland; two daughters, Lisa M. (Carey) McKenzie of Galion and Erica C. (Gino) Masi of Cardington; six grandchildren, Alexandrea, Emily, and Angelica McKenzie and Cedric, Bryanna, and Mario Masi; one brother, Richard (Sandy) Borland of Morral; and four sisters, Linda (Lloyd) Kelly of Marblehead, Karen Borland of Morral, Trudy (John) Deem of Marion, and Joyce (Marty) Schwartz of Marion.

He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, the Crawford County Retired Teachers Association, and a life member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. Larry enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, traveling, camping, and being with his grandchildren. He traveled to Mexico and visited all 48 on the contiguous states.

Friends may call Thursday, February 3 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where the funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Kraps officiating. Burial to follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery, Brush Ridge. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association through the funeral home.
