Larry S. Edwards, 67, of Bucyrus, died Friday afternoon, August 31, 2012 at Marion General Hospital after a recent illness.
He was born October 26, 1944 in Baxter, Tenn. to the late Charles and Pauline (Brewington) Edwards. Soon, Larry's family moved to Bucyrus and he graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1962. After working for North Electric, Larry became a contractor and retired as an Installation Supervisor from PND Communications in Crestline.
Larry is survived by his wife, Cindy Edwards, whom he married September 22, 2007; his children, Crystal (Tim) Stigall, Larry (Wendy) Edwards and Steve (Angie) Edwards; stepdaughters, Jennifer (Billy) Kuhn and Kim Beckley; grandchildren, Natalie & Nicole Stigall, Evan & Alexia Edwards, Hudson Edwards, Aidan "Chunk" & Briana Beckley, Will & Brooklyn Kuhn and Koyer Koge; and his siblings, Donna (Willy) Leuthold-Williams, Brenda Church, Cindy (Mike) Miller, Cathy (Paul) Usher, Rita (Ken) Edgington, Melvin (Rita) Edwards and Kevin (Barb) Edwards and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was larger than life, not only in size but in his kind heart and easy going nature as well. He lived life to the fullest, never making any particular plans, but always ready for whatever came along and more than willing to drop what he was doing to help a friend or family member in need. At home, it was all sports, all the time with the TV seldom showing anything else. He especially loved baseball and played in various softball leagues most of his life. He loved the Cleveland Indians and Browns and enjoyed playing golf. Larry organized the Edwards Invitational, held at New Winchester Golf Course, during the Bratwurst Festival for the past 16 years, even playing the day before entering the hospital. He could be found playing cards every Friday afternoon at VFW Post 8999 and enjoyed the frequent gathering of friends at his home.
Larry's family will receive friends Wednesday, September 5 from 5-8 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus and a private burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Wise Funeral Service to help with expenses or Bucyrus Little League through the funeral home.
