Larry A. Stormer, 66, of Mansfield, died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Bucyrus Community Hospital following a heart attack.
He was born May 7, 1947 in Bucyrus to the late Paul and Cleona (McAdams) Stormer and was a 1965 graduate of Wynford High School. Larry went onto receive his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Tri State College. On December 10, 1967 he married Rebecca Young who survives.
Larry worked at ODOT for 43 years in Ashland before retiring in April of 2011. Family, traveling and being outdoors was what kept Larry going. He was involved with his son’s activities when they were young and in recent years followed his grandchildren in their sporting events which included volleyball, baseball and football. Larry and Becky loved traveling with friends and family. There were many fishing trips to Manitoulin Island and White Lake in Canada; Caribbean cruises, as well as trips to Las Vegas, Hawaii and lastly they realized his dream trip to Alaska. Larry’s biggest hobbies were hunting and fishing and this gave him even more quality time with his family and friends.
In addition to Becky, his wife of 46 years, Larry is survived by two sons, Michael (Beverly) Stormer and their children Humiko and Saja of Luckey, Ohio and Greg (Laura) Stormer and their children, Bryce and Ellie of Ashland; five siblings, Phillip (Karen) Stormer, Arthur (Mari) Stormer, Janice (Paul) Emick, Vera Stormer and Mary Jean (Bobby) Hensley; father-in-law, Clifford Young; mother-in-law, Jean (Bub) Wagner and two brothers-in-law, Daniel Young and David Young. Also surviving are close friends, Tom (Sherry) Pate, Vic (Virginia) Moser and Tom (Marilyn) Culp
He is preceded in death by brother-in-law, Tim Young and a step father-in-law, Jim Sharrock.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820 where his funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Certified Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
