Lana H. Mulvaine, 78, of Bucyrus, died on April 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by family after a long 18 month battle with cancer.
Lana was born February 6, 1943 to the late Donald A. and Gladys I. (West) Beaver in Mansfield. She married the love of her life, the late Ernest “Ernie” Mulvaine, in March of 1969. The two then moved to Bucyrus. She went on to earn her GED from Bucyrus High School. Lana worked at the Bucyrus Community Hospital for two years as a cook, then worked at Burcliff Industries where she worked with wiring before she was promoted to quality control inspector. She worked at Burcliff for nearly 21 years. Lana then worked at Timken, PECO II, General Mills, and lastly Walmart before she retired.
Growing up, Lana would garden with her mom and help can whatever they grew. As an adult her love of gardening stuck and she enjoyed growing vegetables. Her last harvest consisted of tomatoes and zucchini. The most important thing to Lana was her family. She was a compassionate and caring mother who took pride in how well she raised her kids. The family would go to Florida twice a year to visit Lana’s parents. Lana also cared for her three cats, all of which she rescued, one with the help of her daughter, Joann.
She was a member of the Bucyrus Women of the Moose and an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Lana even had a room in her house painted scarlet and grey that displayed her Buckeye memorabilia. She enjoyed playing bingo, solitaire, and watching the Ohio State Buckeyes football games.
Surviving Lana are her three children Joann Snell, Jerry (Linette) Fulwider, and Kelly J. Fulwider; grandchildren Kyle Fulwider, Alyssa Fulwider, Tyler Snell, and Lindsay (Justin) Overholser, Ashley Leece, and Brian Bisel; and great-grandchild James Leece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie, of nearly 50 years, daughter Lana A. Fulwider, and brothers Thomas and Jerry Beaver.
Her family will receive friends from 10 – 11:55 am Thursday, April 29 at Wise Funeral Service, where her service will follow at 12 pm with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made payable to the American Cancer Society or The Humane Society Serving Crawford County and sent to the funeral home at 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Memories and photos can be shared on Lana’s tribute page.
There will be a pot-luck dinner afterwards at Lana’s home.
