Kenneth L. Schifer, 81, of Bucyrus, died Friday, May 3, 2013 at Carlisle House in Bucyrus.

He was born in Bucyrus on March 8, 1932 to the late George W. and Eunice (Ulmer) Schifer and was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Zion High School. Kenny enjoyed square dancing and at one of the dances in Attica, he asked a beautiful young lady to dance. She obliged and a short time later on March 28, 1958 he married Dessie L. Feichtner, that beautiful lady and she survives.

Following high school, Kenny served in the Ohio National Guard, worked at Timken and also raised dairy cattle. He later farmed the land and owned and operated Schifer Trucking from 1968 until 1980.

He believed in hard work and might have been known for doing things his way but he did have a kind heart and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Kenny took pride in purchasing "green equipment" and after his work was completed he enjoyed, bowling, camping and boating at Lake Erie, following Wynford athletics and going to sprint car races.

He was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church and formerly played on the church dart ball team. Kenny was also a member of the Bucyrus Moose Lodge.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Kenny is survived by two children, Donald (Becky) Schifer of Bucyrus and Linda (Cecil "Skipper") Williams of Keithville, La.; four grandchildren, Tyler Williams, Hannah (Justin) Bourg, Paul Hackman and Maxwell Hackman; one great-granddaughter, Harper Grace Bourg; brother-in-law, John (Donna) Feichtner of Willard and several nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at Wise Funeral Service and one hour prior to the funeral which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Good Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor David Bliss officiating. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery.

Contributions may be given to the Good Hope Lutheran Church Radio Fund; Crawford Co. Council on Aging Meals on Wheels Program or the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.
