Keith A. Young

Keith Alan Young, 59, of Bucyrus, died early Thursday, December 19, 2024 at his home following a lengthy battle with glioblastoma.

He was born November 20, 1965 in Bucyrus to the late Robert Eugene Young and Juanita Rose (Charleston) Knieriemen Young and attended Bucyrus High School. Keith went on to complete his GED as well as earn his associate degree in social work from Marion Technical College. He worked at a couple of factories, including BPT and lastly worked at Champion Foods until his health forced him to stop.

In 1998, he met a fellow employee, Christy D. Rumer. They shared several years of companionship and got married on July 7, 2007. They were perfect for one another and shared many laughs and good times together.

Keith was an artistic individual who loved having fun with family and friends. He dabbled in woodworking and enjoyed many years of performing in local bands, where he played guitar, keyboard and sang. Keith’s love of music led him to many concerts over the years and he even had the privilege of meeting and hanging out with Ed Kowalczyk, the lead singer of the rock band, Live. Keith also enjoyed trips to the lake, rooting for his Dallas Cowboys as well as simply hanging out with his wife, daughters and grandchildren. Throughout his recent health battles, his compassion towards others outshined what he endured, as rather than dwelling on his issues, Keith was more concerned about how others were doing. A lesson we can all learn from.

Keith is survived by his wife, Christy; daughters, Shayla Young and Alexis (Jacob Bowman) Young; grandchildren, Aaliyah, Damien, Ivan, Elliott, Rowland and Avery all of Bucyrus; siblings, Vicki Webb of Bucyrus, Cheryl (Tom) Campbell of Upper Sandusky, Gloria (Roger) Pelfrey of Bucyrus, Robert (Lori) Young, Jeffrey (Kathy) Young, W. Scott (Joshlyn) Young, Linda Smith, Brenda Sue Rodgers all of Marion and Helen Farrell of Findlay; father-in-law, Lawrence Rumer of Bucyrus; brothers-in-law, Thomas Rumer of Bucyrus and Mark (Erica) Rumer of Attica as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Adam Young; siblings, Norman Young, Michael Young and Roberta “Bobbie Jo” Fox and his mother-in-law, Gertrude Rumer.

All services for Keith will be held on Friday, December 27 at the Bucyrus Church of God, 1304 Woodlawn Ave, Bucyrus, Ohio. Memorial visitation from 1 – 2:55 pm and his memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm with his brother-in-law, Rev. Tom Campbell officiating.

If desired, donations can be made payable to the Wise Funeral Service to help offset any expenses and these gifts will be accepted through the funeral home or at church on day of services. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook page.
