Keith A. Berry

Keith A. Berry, 71, of Bucyrus, died September 20, 2022 at his home with his family at his side.

Keith was born June 12, 1951 to the late Harry W. and Betty J. (Fralick) Berry in Bucyrus. He graduated from Bucyrus High School and married the love of his life and best friend, Charlene Songer, June 7, 1970 at New Washington United Methodist Church.

Keith worked at Geyers’ grocery store for a number of years before working construction at Clayton Young & Son. He then began working solo on roofing and painting houses before taking a job at Dayco Swan where he worked as a compounder in the Reclaim Department. He left Dayco to accept a position as a mixer at the Pillsbury Plant in Martel, which was ultimately sold to General Mills. Keith retired from General Mills in 2012.

Keith was a humble, hardworking, loving, caring man who was always sensitive to the needs of others. He could get anyone to smile and laugh and loved playing pranks on his co-workers and family. Keith was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and was an avid listener to artists such as Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings. When he wasn’t working, fixing, or spending quality time with family, he was relaxing in his recliner watching TV, enjoying a cup of coffee, with Baxter, his cat, on his lap.

Keith is survived by his wife of 52 years. Also surviving are: his daughter, Michelle (Michael) Sheridan of Alabama; grandson, Samuel Sheridan; sisters, Linda (Dr. David) Smock, Judy (Cory) Estes, Jean Morrow; brother, Ken (Chris) Berry; sisters-in-law, Cathy (Mark) Fike, Lori (Tom Steinmetz) Songer, Melinda (Bill) McNeely, Brenda Songer; brothers-in-law, Herb and Bob (Jan) Songer; and his loyal feline companion, Baxter. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Mike Morrow, Richard and Jim Songer, and sisters-in-law, Marie, Carolyn, and Arlene Songer.

His family welcomes friends Thursday, September 29 from 11AM – 1 PM at Wise Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow that day at 1 PM with Pastor Rich Hurles officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made payable to Kindred Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choosing and can be sent to the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Keith’s tribute wall.
