Katherine E. Anderson, 91, of Bucyrus passed away Monday, March 4, 2013 at Altercare of Bucyrus where she had resided over the past year. She had been in failing health for several years.
Katherine was born August 25, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pa. to the late Catherine E. (Coyle) Edwards and David J. Edwards. On May 20, 1947 she married her true love, Francis X. (F.X.) "Andy" Anderson at St. Brendan's Church in Pittsburgh and began her life adventure through four states, finally settling in Bucyrus with her family. Andy preceded her in death January 18, 1999 leaving an unfillable void.
As well as her parents and beloved husband of nearly 52 years, she was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and many loved nieces and nephews.
Katherine is survived by daughters, Katherine E. (James) Stanley, Deborah Anderson, both of Bucyrus, and Christina (Timothy) Quicksall of Mansfield; granddaughter, Rebekah Stanley of Galion; grandson, Padraic D. Stanley, presently of Findlay; sister, Esther J. "Dee" Matesic, living at Altercare; as well as many dearly loved nieces, nephews and cousins in her native Pittsburgh, around the country, and in Scotland. She loved her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by the many that knew and loved her.
Katherine was a very talented, creative and loving wife and mother. In her younger, more active days, she enjoyed making porcelain and ceramic dolls, and loved to quilt, sew, paint and craft. In her working years, she was employed by J.C. Penney in Bucyrus, managed Jean Frock ladies clothing store and was the last owner of the Gayety Shop. In retirement she was blessed to care for her "treasured" grandchildren.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, formerly involved in the Rosary Altar Society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the former Indian Trails Doll Club.
Katherine's family will receive friends Thursday, March 7 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus from 4-7 p.m. A Rosary Service will conclude the visitation at 7:00.
