Judith A. Trader

Judith Ann Trader, 82, of Bucyrus, passed away peacefully in her home on January 12, 2024, surrounded by family.

Judie was born in Bucyrus on June 17, 1941 to the late Iven C. and Mabel A. (Carpenter) Clady. Her positive attitude impacted many lives of others who she encountered. Judie graduated from the Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus and went on to attend Bliss Business College. It was at a club for the deaf where she met William E. Trader and they married on August 26, 1967. Judie worked at United Bank, then ITT, and eventually Walmart where she retired after 20 years.

Judie was always crafting by painting many ceramic figurines and knitting scrubbies for dishes. Much of what she created became gifts for friends and family. Her face lit up with joy when she learned of a visit with family and she was always cooking/baking for their time together. Her handmade mints, buckeyes, and ranch oyster crackers were always favorites. She enjoyed playing card games including euchre and Uno. Judie had quite the collection of hummingbird trinkets, as well as anything that showed the “I love you” sign. Her family created many memories at the lake, fishing and soaking up rays of sun when she was younger and she enjoyed gathering with friends.

Judie was baptized and confirmed through St. John’s UCC in Bucyrus and had more recently worshiped at Lutheran churches in Wooster and Findlay. She was a member of the Ohio Association of the Deaf-Blind and attended many of their conferences. She had also been active in the former Mansfield Club for the Deaf.

In addition to Bill, her husband of 56 years, Judie is survived by two children, Jennifer Haines and Jeffery (Marilyn) Trader; seven grandchildren, Katelyn (Joshua) Colborn, Jeremiah (Madison) Haines, Zachary (Samantha) Haines, Amelia (Thomas) Lewis, Mackenzie Haines, Cecilia Trader, and Eliana Trader; five great grandchildren plus one on the way; her sister, Mary Jo Seif, and several nieces.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Clady; stepmother, Barbara Clady; and brother-in-law, Robert “Mike” Seif.

Friends may call from 11 – 12:55 pm Monday, January 15 at Wise Funeral Service, where her funeral will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dreama Caudill officiating. An Interpreter will be present for all services. Judie will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.

Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to the Helen Keller National Center www.helenkeller.org/hknc/ or the Ohio Association of the Deaf-Blind. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home and online expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared one her guestbook.
