Donald F. Reed Jr.

Donald F. Reed, Jr., 67, of Nevada (PO Box 1053, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820), died unexpectedly following a kidney disorder Sunday, March 18, 2012 at UniversityHospital East in Columbus.

Don was born July 1, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Betty J. (Arndt) Reed. Heattended school at Bucyrus and on July 8, 1967 married Carol I. Schieber whosurvives. Don was employed at Swan Rubber when he was drafted to serve with theUS Army during Vietnam, where he served from 1968 to 1970.

He had a strong work ethic and a gift of being able to manage finances. Don putthese talents to use at Bucyrus Community Hospital where he worked as apurchasing agent until retiring in the late 1990's.

Don was very much a family man. He loved involving himself with his children'sactivities and sporting events growing up and he always had a knack for surprisingthem with the greatest Christmas presents. Don was also known by many as a manwith a big heart who enjoyed making people laugh and though he liked being ahomebody, he enjoyed visiting and spending time with some of his closerfriends, Chris Stevenson, Charlie Bowers, Jim Hart and Larry Williams.

Traveling and spending time with Carol completed Don's life. They enjoyed their yearstogether with friends at Wilson's Beach and their membership at Bay Pointewhere they would go boating, have cookouts, play cards and socialize. They alsoenjoyed their many trips to the Carolina's, Florida and Tennessee. When not onthe move, Don did enjoy sitting in his recliner watching Duke basketball,Yankees baseball, Tom Brady and the Patriots and Michigan football (which ledto some fun heated times with his brothers).

In addition to Carol, his best friend of 45 years, Don is survived by hischildren, Doni Reed and fiancée, Rachel Kendzior of New Albany, Tonya (Nakia

Petersen) Reed of Columbus and Stephanie Lawler of Worthington; threegrandchildren, Ashleigh, Daniel and Haddie; two brothers Steve (Nancy) Reed andDave Reed both of Bucyrus; four nieces Angie, Beth Kari and Jennifer and hisfour legged friend, Maddie.

Friends may call from 5-8 Thursday, March 22 at Wise Funeral Service, where funeralservices will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday with Life Celebrant, Mark Dettmerofficiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery where full Military Riteswill be provided by both the US Army and American Legion Honor Guards.Contributions may be given to the Humane Society serving Crawford Countythrough the funeral home.
