Joyce Ann DiScioscia, 73, of Bucyrus died of natural causes on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at her home.
She was born February 7, 1946 in Marion, Ohio and attended Marion Schools before having her children and served in the US Army from 1971-1972. While stationed in Virginia, she met Sam DiScioscia, a fellow soldier, and they were married in 1987. Joyce and Sam moved to Bucyrus in 1991 to be closer to her family. They loved fishing anywhere there was something to catch. In years past, Joyce also enjoyed clogging and square dancing and will be remembered for yodeling. At home, she enjoyed painting, the companionship of her dog, and her eclectic collection of knick-knacks and decorations for all seasons.
Joyce is survived by sons, Bud (Jennifer) Layne and Craig (Debbie) Layne; stepchildren, Dick DiScioscia, Donald (Karen) DiScioscia, and Debra (Bob) Ross; 15 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and her dear friend, Sally Wirebaugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sam; mother, Helen M. (Phillips) Sauer; infant son, Benjamin Layne; stillborn daughter, Victoria Layne; stepfather, Edward Hodge; brother, Herb Oiler; and sister, Mary Hunt.
A private gathering was held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Memorial contributions can be made payable to Wounded Warrior Project and given through the funeral home, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Memories and photos can be shared on Joyce Tribute Wall.
