Joy Alice McClarren

Joy Alice Lysinger McClarren, 69, entered heaven on November 4, 2022 after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

She was a selfless, generous, resilient, fiercely loving, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.

She was born in Shelby, Ohio to William Lysinger and Ada Snyder Lysinger on October 28, 1953. She graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1972 and over the years was involved as a Sunday school teacher and member at several local churches. She lived her entire life in Bucyrus.

Her deepest passion was loving and serving God and her family. She was also known for her generosity; her favorite organizations to support were the Bucyrus Backpack Program, Speranza Animal Rescue, Crawford County Humane Society, and Samaritan’s Purse.

She deeply loved her children and grandchildren and could often be found at their sporting events, recitals, or preparing meals and pies for a family get together. She radiated kindness and became a friend and helper to everyone who knew her. She could reassure and calm our hearts with prayer, encouragement, and guidance. She could also add enjoyment and laughter to any situation with her clever wit and sense of humor.

Over the years she worked at several local businesses including Timken, Uhlman’s Department Store, Bucyrus Police Department, Springfield Township Fire Department, 180 degree Salon, the Bucyrus YMCA, and the Pickwick Market “Lunchbox.” She was always respected by her colleagues for being a dedicated worker who went above and beyond for others.

Joy is survived by her husband of 32 years, Eric McClarren, who she married on July 22, 1990; two daughters, Monica (Cory) Zender and Jessica (Patrick) Tucker; four grandchildren, Cole Zender, Carley Zender, Alice Tucker, and Junia Tucker. She is also survived by her mother in-law, Sandra McClarren; sisters-in-law, Andrea McClarren, Alyssa (Brent) Lewis, Amy (Casey)Pugh, and Amanda (Kevin) Ouelett; brother-in-law, Robert Dewalt; and her sister, Jani (Ronald) Pritchard. Preceding her in death were her father, William; mother, Ada; father-in-law, Donald McClarren; sister, Judy Dewalt; and brother in-law, Jeffrey McClarren. She was loved by many nieces and nephews and adored by many special longtime friends. They gave her so much support during her fight with cancer. She is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed by all.

Calling hours will be held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus on Sunday, December 4 from 1 - 3:55 pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 4:00pm. Burial will be private at a later date. Her memorial service can be viewed live, and memories and photos are encouraged to be shared on her tribute page.

Joy loved her animals and supported several causes for injured or abused animals. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be given to the Bucyrus Backpack Program, Humane Society Serving Crawford County, or Speranza Animal Rescue. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home.
