Joel R. Kronenberger

Joel R. Kronenberger, 69, of Bucyrus died Tuesday morning, January 26, 2016 at Altercare of Bucyrus.

Known to most as Joe, he was born in Bucyrus on January 6, 1947 to the late Thomas and Genevieve (Metzger) Kronenberger. Joe graduated from Holy Trinity in 1962 and Bucyrus High School in 1966 where he played football. He worked at Schine’s Theater and Howard’s Shoe Store. After school, he worked for GE before being inducted into the US Army, serving as a Radio and VHF Operator from 1967-1969. He returned home to work at GE and then for The Timken Co. in various support departments until retiring in 1999 after 31 years. He held memberships in Moose Lodge 669, VFW Post 1078, American Legion Post 181 and Life Membership in AmVets Post 27.

Joe loved the game of golf, taking up the game with his dad at a young age. Any excuse to play was a good one. A special highlight was looking forward to and golfing in the State Moose Tournament with his Aunt Waunita Howard. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, Nascar races and Ohio State sports. In retirement he enjoyed having breakfast with his buddies. He loved to have fun and was always the life of the party.

Joe is survived by his son, Joel “Eric” Kronenberger of Bucyrus; two granddaughters, Shelby Lynn Cox and Kaitlyn Rose Cox; one great granddaughter, Alexie Nicole; brother, Thomas (Serena) Kronenberger of Upper Sandusky; two sisters, Carol (Dwight) Leonhardt and Rita (Jerry) Fegley, both of Bucyrus; and many nieces and nephews. His feline companions, KD and Maxine, were a great source of comfort and entertainment. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sylvia Jean.

Joe’s family will receive friends on Friday, January 29 from 5-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. The US Army Honor Guard will have a flag presentation at 7 pm that evening to conclude the services. Joe's wishes were to be cremated with private services at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be given to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County or a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home. Memories can be shared on Joel’s Tribute Wall.
