He was born on March 11, 1935 in Elkin, NC to the late Fonzie and Collie (Burchette) Anthony. He was married on December 19, 1954 to the love of his life, Rosaclaire Kirby for 62 years until her death in 2016.

He believed in making a difference by donating needed items to the local homeless shelter and individuals in need. He also helped serving lunches during the summer to area youth. For the past 3 years he volunteered to water the hanging baskets in downtown Bucyrus. He was a member and enjoyed socializing at the Moose Lodge 669, American Legion Post 1181 and AMVETS 27.
