Jim Haag

James D. Haag, 78, of Bucyrus died early Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Heartland of Centerburg following a brief illness.

He was born August 26, 1936 in Crestline, Ohio to the late Harold H. and Corlyn T. (Heiby) Haag. Jim graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1954 and received a business administration degree from Bliss College.

Jim was introduced to Nancy Jacobs as a teenager and for him, it was love at first sight. They were married on April 22, 1956. Being fresh out of school and the gentleman that he was; it was ever so important that Jim find work to support his beautiful young bride. So on their honeymoon, he applied with a few companies and was hired by The Kroger Co. where he worked for 40 years, retiring as Head Produce Manager.

Jim was always a good natured individual and everything revolved around his family. He loved spending summer vacations at Lake Erie where he appreciated the small things in life such as simply sitting on the porch listening to the rain patter on the roof. He enjoyed other travels as well, especially trips to Las Vegas. Having four daughters, Jim had a great respect for women and he and Nancy were always sure to let their girls know how important and talented they were.

He was a good conversationalist and liked to share his opinions with anyone wanting to chat. He bowled earlier in life and liked to golf, but more recently he enjoyed browsing on the computer and loved watching movies.

Jim is survived by Nancy, his wife of 59 years; four daughters, Connie (Dave) Welborn, Caryn (David) Stauffer, Christina (Tim) Lutz all of Bucyrus and Carrie (Dr. Derek) Reichenbach of North Royalton; 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

His family will hold a private celebration of Jim’s life at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Salvation Army or a charity of the donor’s choice through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Memories are encouraged to be shared in the Memorial Guestbook below.
