Jerry C. Kirk, 68 of Bucyrus, died Monday, July 8, 2014 at his residence following a brief battle with lung cancer.
He was born August 15, 1945 in Bucyrus to the late Lyle E. and Norrene J. (Snavely) Kirk. Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Holmes Liberty High School and was a Vietnam veteran serving with the US Navy.
Jerry worked for a short time at G.E before taking a job at Tecumseh Products, where he worked for 16 years before they closed. He then spent the next 10 years working at DANA in Upper Sandusky until retirement.
Jerry was a strong willed individual who was known to be stubborn on occasion. Earlier in life, he lived on the wild side with his Harley and Corvette but eventually settled down and found many fun years of marriage and friendship with Rita K. (Williams) Kirk. Together they loved their daily conversations and numerous camping and fishing trips. Jerry thought the world of his grandchildren and loved all sports especially the Indians and Browns. He also loved collecting coins, tinkering with automobiles, socializing with close friends and enjoyed relaxing with his many dogs and cats through the years.
He is survived by his wife, Rita, one daughter, Rachael (Dan Dillow) Kirk; two grandchildren, Ethan Cameron and Hoyt Dillow; two siblings, Doug E. Kirk and Karen (Henry) Zier; one sister-in-law, Christine Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by a brother, Gary L. Kirk; a sister, Darlene J. Kirk and a brother-in-law, Joseph D. Williams.
No public services will be held. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wise Funeral Service to help offset expenses. Expressions of sympathy may be given to www.wisefuneral.com.
