Jeanne Stuckman Adams, 90, of Bucyrus died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at the Inn at Orchard Park where she had resided since February.
She was born July 17, 1922 in Bucyrus to the late Calvin and Esther (Campbell) Seele. She was also preceded by a brother, Raymond and infant brother. She married Raymond L. Stuckman on January 1, 1941 and he died February 26, 1985. Jeanne then married Neil H. Adams on May 1, 1987 and he died August 22, 2011.
Jeanne is survived by three sons, Jeffrey A. Stuckman of Lakeland, Fla.; Steven J. Stuckman of Bucyrus and his children, Scott (Mengling), Mark (Cristy) and Jackie Stuckman; and Bradley J. (Nancy) Stuckman of Bucyrus and their children, Nicholas, Matthew and Kelly Stuckman; great grandchildren, Sam and Sydney Stuckman; sisters-in-law, Helen (Dexter) Rossman and Rosie Stuckman; brother-in-law, Ralph (Jane) Stuckman and their families.
Mrs. Adams graduated in 1940 from Holmes-Liberty High School. She was a stay at home mother until 1958 when she was employed as the secretary to the Soil and Water Conservation District of Crawford County; the film librarian and assistant secretary at the former County School Superintendent's Courthouse office; secretary for Bucyrus City Schools; and secretary and typist of student reports for Title VI Crawford County School Psychologists. After retirement, she worked several years at Baumels Department Store in Bucyrus.
Throughout childhood, she was a member of the First Christian Church where she was baptized at the age of 12. She attended various churches in the communities in which she lived. In 1956, she and her family became members of Grace United Methodist Church in Bucyrus. She was a teacher in the Primary Department and for Bible School. She was a member of the Love Circle and Ever Faithful Class.
While living in the Holmes Liberty community, Jeanne was a member of the Child Study Club, The Grange, and the Ladies Community Club. After moving to Bucyrus in 1971 she became a member of The Modern Homemakers and Home Council. In 1976 she was a charter member of Contact Crawford County Telephone Crisis Intervention hotline. She attended the Lifeline International Convention in Melbourne, Australia in 1979.
Jeanne enjoyed every aspect of homemaking, and her hobbies of painting, sewing, reading and writing letters, especially her 50 year pen friendship with Nancy Perkins in Wales. Going to Wales and exchanging visits to each other's homes led to her love of travel. She and Neil spent 12 winters in Boynton Beach, Fla. She always loved being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In later years, she was a mentor for Bucyrus City Schools and the Ohio Reads Program.
Jeanne's family will receive friends Friday, November 2 from 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, November 3 from 10-11 a.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where a memorial service will be held Saturday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Kraps officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Brokensword Cemetery. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Bucyrus U.M.C., The Lupus Foundation of America, Turning Point or Contact Crawford County through Wise Funeral Service.
