Janet Schwartz

Janet E. Schwartz, 90, of Bucyrus died Tuesday morning, September 24, 2013 at her home which was filled with family, just as she always loved to have it.

She was born December 7, 1922 in Bucyrus to the late Russell and Cleo (Zimmerman) Harvey Mollenkopf. She graduated from Bucyrus High School and met a country boy named Leslie Schwartz of Liberty Twp. He made her laugh on their first date at the Cleveland Expo and through 71 years of marriage from October 6, 1940 until he preceded her in death January 23, 2012.

Janet will be remembered for her love of the Lord, life and family. She was the steady rock of her beloved family, holding the role with a positive attitude and the warmest of hearts. No matter the issue, Janet was the one every child and grandchild knew they could talk to and be heard by with an open mind and without judgment. She enjoyed her morning coffee and was an avid reader of any book she got her hands on. She loved to travel, seeing all 50 states and most of the world, even as recently as this spring when she visited Jamaica. Janet was a charter member of the Sulphur Springs Guiding Mothers Club, volunteer and trainer for the Red Cross, member of Bucyrus United Methodist Church and retired from the Crawford County Clerk of Courts office.

Janet is survived by six children, Gene (Rosie) Schwartz, Gary (Gale) Schwartz, Judy (Lyle) Candel, all of Bucyrus, Joyce (Bob) Gibson of Prospect, Joanne (Larry) Fullenkamp of N. Lewisburg, and Jackie (Dave) Cochran of Bucyrus; 22 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Hord and her precious "Kitty Cat" who died just recently.

The Schwartz family will receive friends Friday, September 27 from 4-7 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where the funeral will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Bucyrus UMC Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home and memories may be shared by signing the Memorial Guestbook below.
