James W. Cotsamire

James W. Cotsamire, 90, of Bucyrus, died Friday, May 17, 2013 at his residence.

He was born June 23, 1922 in Whetstone Twp. to the late Melvin C. and Ruth E. (Guinther) Cotsamire. Jim graduated from Whetstone High School in 1940 and began working for Thomas Hardware in Galion until being called to serve his country in 1942. He had been courting Lucille Neff since high school and only a few months into active duty on May 24, 1943, he and Lucille were married. Jim continued serving in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned home eventually taking a job with J. Walker & Sons working as a bookkeeper. He next worked as a general manager of Galion Equity before retiring from the Zeigler Milling Company in which he managed.

Jim and Lucy shared God's love with their family; they enjoyed many years of visiting and dining out with friends. They took many rides together, liked teasing one another and Jim enjoyed taking her shopping. Lucy preceded Jim in 2007 and a few years later with the help of his church family, Jim and Davie Lowe began what turned out to be several fun years of companionship and support for one another. Davie survives.

Jim is also survived by two children, Leslie (Marilyn) Cotsamire of Roanoke, VA and Beverly Ault of Nevada; four grandchildren, Dawn Detillion, Jamie Ault, Timothy Cotsamire and Christine (David) Miller; four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; four brothers, Edward (Harriet) of Galion Carl (Ruth) of Bucyrus, Loren (Betty) of Loveland, CO, Harold (Doris) of Ada, Ohio and one step-brother, Richard "Dick" Cotsamire of Bucyrus.

Jim loved people and truly placed service above self. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a longtime Rotarian with both Galion and Bucyrus Clubs. He also held membership and was very influential with the Ohio Grain and Feed Assoc. and was a life member of the American Legion, Post 181. Honest, humble, respected and family oriented are just a few words which begin to describe Jim. His hobbies were helping others, working his various gardens throughout life and building things. He wanted to make sure that when he left this earth, he had instilled something positive in each person he connected with.

His family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21 at Wise Funeral Service, where his funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Ken Lance officiating. Burial will follow in Whetstone Cemetery where the US Army Honor Guard will fold and present the American flag to his family.

Contributions may be given to Calvary Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
