James Pauly

James C. Pauly, 79, of rural Galion died Thursday evening, November 6, 2014 at Galion Community Hospital.

He was born in Shelby on November 23, 1934 to the late Victor and Helen (Dick) Pauly and graduated from New Washington High School in 1952. Jim married Mary Ellen Steinke on October 28, 1961 and she survives.

Jim was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and formerly in the New Washington Knights of Columbus and New Washington and Whetstone VFDs. He enjoyed working hard in his garden, coaching basketball, volunteering and rooting hard for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen Pauly; six children, Janet (Mac) Mangrum, Julie (John) Dellerba, Joan (Ron) Gyurke, Joe Pauly, Jerry (Wendy) Pauly and Jennifer (Vernon) Jewett; 23 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and two sisters, Patricia Snay and Mary Yost.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert Pauly and sisters, Ruth Sheibly and Caroline who died at infancy.

Visitation and services will held on Monday morning, Nov. 10. Rosary Service will begin at 8:45 and family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Service from 9-10:30 am. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. John Miller officiating.  A private burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery will take place on a later date.

Memorial donations can be given to St. Joseph Catholic School or the American Cancer Society through the funeral home and memories can be shared in the Memorial Guestbook below.
