James F. Miller, 93, of Bucyrus, passed peacefully on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Orchard Park.
Jim was born April 25, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Joseph and Laura (McBurney) Miller. He spent much of his youth in Willard and graduated from Willard High School. On November 15, 1953 he married Patricia L. Treaster and they shared 67 years of marriage before her passing on November 18, 2020. Jim worked as an electrician much of his life and spent a number of years at the B & O Railroad in Willard; PPG in Crestline and retired as a foreman from General Electric in Bucyrus in 1991.
Jim was faithful to God, church and his Bible. His days began by reading from his Bible and for the past 49 years, he’s worshipped at Calvary Baptist Church. Prior to living in Bucyrus, he was active in Lutheran churches in both Willard and Crestline.
Jim will be remembered as an honest and thankful person who never spoke ill of anyone. He loved laughing as well as making others laugh and any time spent with family made him happy. He and Pat shared many great memories while on day trips and many of their adventures were to Amish Country. They loved their home on Albright Road, where Jim was often found outside tending to his garden, flowers, mowing his lawn or admiring the many birds they fed. He enjoyed the companionship that their cats offered, and his favorite past time was eating. He’d pick out his dessert and plan accordingly as to how much he could eat so he’d have room for that tasty, sweet treat as well as a Pepsi.
For many years, he liked playing euchre and shared many laughs with fellow club members. He still actively played with friends at Orchard Park, where he also took up jigsaw puzzles.
Jim is survived by children, Denise Ann Rager of Delaware and James L. Miller; daughter-in-law, Linda C.J. Miller and grandson, Mikael L. Miller all of Annapolis, MD. He was preceded in death by his half-sister, Bonita J. “Bonnie” Stoll.
His family will receive family and friends from 10 – 10:55 am Friday, August 9 at Wise Funeral Service, where his funeral will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor David Patrick officiating. He will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in New Haven Twp., Ohio.
His family specifically requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to Crawford Park District or to Gentiva Hospice, Marion, Ohio. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
