James H. Frankart

James Harold Frankart, 84, of Bucyrus, died Sunday May 29, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born February 21, 1938 in Fostoria to the late Harold John “Shorty” and Anna Barbara (Haaser) Frankart. Jim graduated from Fostoria High School and was a semi-truck driver for 40 plus years. Jim spent much of his time behind the wheel driving for Cooper Jarrett and was proud of his perfect driving record. On February 14, 1981, he married Wanda J. (Bloomfield) and she survives.

Jim was an always on the go type of guy. He could often be found in his garage tinkering with things and often worked on vehicles. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn and when it was time to mow, he just kept going and took care of several of his neighbor’s yards as well. And no matter what Jim was into, his four-legged companion, Bashful was always nearby. He enjoyed relaxing to old country music while sipping on his diet Coke and he and Wanda shared many good times with kids and grandkids. Jim was a longtime member of Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of others until his health declined.

In addition to Wanda, his wife of 41 years, Jim is survived by their children, Sherry (Jeffrey) Ferris, Ronald Lewis and Chad (Amy) Lewis; grandchildren, Chelsea (Ronald) Cress, Ian Hill, Megan Ditmars and fiancé John Beloat Jr, Kendra (Kory) Kirkland, Jewell Paige Lewis, Chad (Justice) Lewis II, Austin Lewis and fiancée Julianna Thomas and Kiara Lewis; siblings, Jerry (Lu) Frankart and Janice (Larry) Corsaut as well as many extended family members. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Frankart and a great granddaughter, Waverly Anna Nicole Lewis.

Jim’s family will celebrate his life privately and he will be laid to rest at Oceola Cemetery. If desired, donations can be made payable to Bucyrus Freewill Baptist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his tribute wall.
