Jackie Miller

Jacqueline A. Miller, 80, of Bucyrus, died Friday, August 15, 2014 at Marion General Hospital as a result of recent failing health.

Mrs. Miller was born September 19, 1933 to the late John D. and Orilla L. (Berry) Fairchild. She was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Zion High School and on that same day, Alvin J. Miller proposed to her. She lovingly accepted and they’ve shared nearly 63 years of creating wonderful memories.

Jackie worked at JC Penney for a short period of time but loved being a mom and farm wife. She taught all of her girls to sew and was very supportive of her son and daughters as a longtime 4-H Advisor. She was sure to have meals ready at Noon and 6 p.m. so that Alvin could carry on his farming duties and she saw to it that her family always attended church and bible school at Mt. Zion UMC where they were members.

Jackie looked forward to holidays with family, especially Easter where she received joy from watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren hunt eggs. She loved the many dogs her family raised through the years and, later in life, found relaxation in reading and bird watching.

In addition to her husband Alvin, she is survived by four children, Beverly (Gary) Sipe, Charlene (Lary) Wagner, Diane (Randy) Fortner and Steven (Debbie) Miller all of Bucyrus; 12 grandchildren, Alicia, Monica, Christina, Dan, Sara, Jodi, Kathy, Nicole, Ryan, Tiffany, Stacy and Adam; two step grandchildren, Michelle and Chad; 15 great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Larry (Barb) Fairchild of Marion. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard and Daniel Fairchild.

Friends may call from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, August 17 and 10-11 a.m. Monday at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where the funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday with Pastor Matt Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
