Jack LeRoy Pollock, 75, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at his residence following a recent bout with pneumonia.
He was born April 28, 1946 in Crestline to the late Wilbur “Bill” and Dawn (Baker) Pollock. Jack was a 1964 graduate of Crestline High School and in May of 1965, enlisted with the Air Force. He spent much of his three plus years in Vietnam and served as a Morse code translator.
Following his honorable discharge, Jack returned to the area and founded his own business, Kozy Komfort, a siding and insulation business. He also worked at Perfection Cobey in Galion, Simms Bros., where he managed the scrap yard, Pacal Blades and retired from M-Tek in Upper Sandusky.
Jack was full of life and anywhere he went, he made friends. He spent several years coaching Little League Baseball. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 181, formerly serving as their financial officer, Canteen Manager and enjoyed playing their slot machines and socializing with fellow members. He was also a member of AMVETS and the former VFW 8999.
On June 28, 1985, he married Irene Benedict and they shared 34 years lovingly annoying one another until her passing in September of 2019. They enjoyed many trips to The Mountaineer and Wheeling, WV as well as other casinos where he tried his luck on the slot machines. They often traveled to Frankenmuth and Pigeon Forge, and they were always up for a drive, as to do a little sight seeing and check in on family (although they rarely stopped). Jack spent a lot of quality time with his son, Casey, working on projects or often simply going places to share an evening together. He was very supportive of his grandchildren and he was never shy of tormenting any of them.
In more recent years, Jack enjoyed the game of golf and from March until November, he practically lived on the golf course. He golfed rounds with friends, travel leagues, the Thursday morning Senior league at Bucyrus, and the one outing he looked most forward too was the Round to Remember, hosted by his son and daughter-in-law.
He is survived by sons, Casey (Dawn) Pollock, Jim Parker and Michael (Debbie) Parker; grandchildren, Jaret, Joe, Selena, Summer, Sarah, Alex, Damein, Ian and Travis; great grandchildren, Madison, Rilann, Kenzley and Elle; one brother, Tom (Sandy) Pollock as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Pollock and a granddaughter, Ashleigh.
His family will receive friends from 1-3 and 4-6 Monday, October 18 at Wise Funeral Service. The evening will conclude with Military Rites being provided by both the Air Force Honor Guard and the Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail. Private inurnment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
It is the goal of Jack’s family to purchase handicap ramps and have them installed in the homes of area veterans at no expense to them, therefore, they’d be humbled for any donations made payable to VFW Post 1078 (veterans wheelchair ramp fund in memo). Memories and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his tribute wall.
