Helen Kent

Helen Kent, 79, of Bucyrus died peacefully at home Tuesday, December 27, 2016 with her family close by after years of failing health.



She was born July 30, 1937 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Woodrow and Lillie (Hall) Luster. She made her way to Bucyrus in the 1960s and married Russell E. Kent on October 27, 1967. He preceded her in death in 1996.



Helen was a loving, sweet, and caring housewife and mother. She will be remembered for her big heart, silly sense of humor, and her delicious meals. Her fried chicken meals with warm apple pie for dessert will be missed by all who were blessed to taste them.



Helen is survived by children, Daisy (John) Hughes-Long, Carey (Deb) Hughes, Bea (Tim) Hughes-Rathers, William Hughes, Eunice Hughes-Hofmann, Theresa Kent, Sandra (Alan) Mackintosh, and Ronald Kent; stepchildren, Byron Kent, Marvin Kent, and Joann King; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Bob Foley; two siblings, Jody Garrett and Ethel Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Hughes-Foley; granddaughter, Kassie Kent; and eight siblings.



Helen’s family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where her funeral will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm with Chaplain Brandon Quail officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
