Helen E. Leiby

Helen E. Leiby, 93, of Bucyrus died early Saturday morning, March 17, 2012 at Heartland of Bucyrus.

She was born June 17, 1918 in Bucyrus to the late Otto and Gladys (Hocker) Grasley and attended school in Bucyrus. On April 21, 1935 she married Willis Steiger who preceded her in death in 1971. On March 2, 1974, Helen married Lloyd Leiby who preceded her in death in June, 2001.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Wilma (John) Guggenmos of Ogallala, Neb. and Ruth (Bill) Williams of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Kim (Jack) Binnix, Wendy (Steve) Ash, Steve Williams, all of Bucyrus, and Shan (Ken) Ehrman of New Washington; great grandchildren, Steve (Rachel) Binnix, Joe (Abbi) Binnix, Jeff Binnix, Martin Ash, Stevie Williams, Mark Williams, Scott Ehrman, Staci Ehrman, Lindsey Ehrman and Dustin Snyder; great-great grandson, Madden Binnix; brothers, Kenny Grasley of Bucyrus, John Grasley of Upper Sandusky and Frank (Valorie) Grasley of Texas; and sisters, Esther Holtshouse of Bucyrus, Naomi (Norman) Van Buskirk of Upper Sandusky and Marjorie (James) Kurtsman of Florida.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Helen was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Helen will be remembered as a positive person with a great chuckle who enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She worked as a homemaker, raising her girls and babysitting her grandchildren. Helen had a strong faith, worshipping with the Assemblies of God while married to Willis and then joining the Church of the Nazarene after meeting Lloyd where she enjoyed trips with the Primetimers. She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles and was always up for a drive. In later years, she looked forward to getting her hair done every Friday, going out to eat and an occasional shopping trip.

Helen's funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20 at Wise Funeral Service with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service, from 12 Noon-2 p.m. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Bucyrus Nazarene Church or Heartland Activities Fund through the funeral home.
