Harold “Curly” Siefert, 81, of Nevada, passed peacefully at Altercare of Bucyrus on Friday, October 7, 2022.
He was born August 27, 1941 in Bucyrus to the late Floyd “Flip” and Lucy (Frisch) Siefert. He completed his schooling at Bucyrus High School and worked 36 years at Timken. Following his retirement he worked on motorcycles, cars, trucks and tractors for friends and fellow Nevada residents.
Curly’s passion was racing. He enjoyed racing his Ford Fairlane and attending races at both Norwalk and National Trail Raceways. He rarely missed watching a NASCAR event and for many years, Curly proudly worked on and transported pull tractors for Ralph Chamberlain Sr. He also enjoyed southern rock music, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd and for a period in the 1980s into the early 90s, ran sound for the Spy Run Band.
Curly was a member of the Fairlane Club of America; The Eliminators Car Club and enjoyed his US Route 66 trip with fellow Eliminator’s. He was also a former longtime member of the Bucyrus Moose. He enjoyed many mornings at Cruisers Drive-Thru where he and close friends would drink coffee and fellowship. After Cruisers permanently closed, their coffee and conversation continued at Harold’s place. While tinkering with things or relaxing, he always enjoyed a PBR and a Lucky Strike or Pall Mall.
Curly is survived by his daughter, Jackie (Chris) Pappas; step grandchildren, Stephanie (Luc) Matard, Cindy Rhodes and Alexis Pappas; six great grandchildren; sister, Cindy (David) Smarsh as well as two nieces, a nephew, and some close friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey R. Siefert and a brother, Ronald F. Siefert.
A visitation for Harold will be held from 12-1:45 pm Saturday, October 15 at Wise Funeral Service. Following calling hours, family and friends will depart to Oakwood Cemetery where a graveside funeral will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Gary Schiefer officiating.
If desired, donations can be made payable to a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his tribute page.
