Harold E. Robinson, 90, of Bucyrus Twp. died Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Bucyrus Community Hospital after months of failing health.
He was born October 19, 1925 in Bucyrus to the late Harrison and Lela (Mapes) Robinson. The Robinson family moved to the country where Harold became a lifelong farmer. He graduated from Mt. Zion High School, where he was in the band, FFA, and played basketball, in 1943 and served in the US Army from 1944-1946. After his return from service, he became reacquainted with a former classmate, Doris Ulmer, and they were married April 18, 1948.
Harold, also known as “Robby,” will be remembered as a loving husband, fun dad, and dedicated family man who enjoyed life. In earlier years, he looked forward to hunting, fishing, boating, and motorcycle rides as well as singing baritone and bass with the Country Gentlemen Barbershop Chorus. After retiring from full time farming in the late 1980s, he worked with Dr. George Neikirk. Harold and Doris wintered in Florida for over 20 years, but he liked returning to Ohio where he could drive his golf cart through the woods, take in nature, and sit with Doris on the front porch swing. He always liked a good joke and enjoyed sharing them and other stories with the Rusty Zippers. He also held memberships at Bucyrus United Methodist Church, NRA, and American Legion Post 181.
Harold is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Doris Robinson; four daughters, Debbie (Lauren) Markley, Connie (Joseph) Kennedy, Janie (Gary) Link, and Lynn (David) Brewer; six grandchildren, Kinsey Koehler (Brandon Nelson), Robin Koehler (Brian Cantor), Josh Kennedy (Dawn Bolton), Brian Bednarz, Jeremy (Melissa) Brewer, and Christopher (Melinda) Brewer; three step grandchildren, Curtis (Jackie) Markley, Robyn (Brad) Beal, and Brian Link; nine great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Leroy and Donald Robinson and Betty Weaver.
Harold’s family will receive friends on Monday, March 14 from 4-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where the funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by the US Army Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions can be given the Bucyrus UMC or a charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Harold’s Tribute Wall
