Harold L. Burgin

Harold L. Burgin, 79, of Sandusky Twp., died naturally yet unexpectedly at his home Friday, December 30, 2011.

He was born May 14, 1932 in Crawford County to the late Floyd and Mildred (Weaver) Burgin. Harold was a 1950 graduate of North Robinson High School and on June 14, 1953 he married Pamela Althouse who survives.

Harold worked at Timken for 40 years before retiring. Family was everything to Harold, and it showed through their time spent together; whether it be annual fishing trips to Upper Michigan or to area farm ponds. Molly, his dog also received many hours of attention and affection. He was a member of Bucyrus First Church of the Nazarene where he mowed the church lawn for many years and a long time member of the Sunset Ramblers Motorcycle Club.

In addition to Pam, his best friend of 58 years, Harold is survived by children, R.A. "Rick" (Bev) Burgin, Rory (Louise) Burgin, Laura (Steve) Chambers; grandchildren, David (Kim) Burgin, Sandy (Chad) Sweitzer, Tammie (Shawn) Sallee, Kristi (Roger) Chambers, Eric (Kerrie) Bohach, Matt (Kristin) Bohach; eight great grandchildren; sister Cheryl Luke; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and June Steiger; brother-in-law, Harmon Eckstein as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his dog Molly.

Harold is preceded in death by a sister Wilma Eckstein; a brother-in-law, Rick Luke; his mother and father-in-law, Gaylen and Miriam Althouse and a brother-in-law, Larry Althouse.

A private family burial will be held Tuesday, January 3 at Sandusky Twp. Cemetery. Friends are invited to gather with the family from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 5 at Wise Funeral Service. A public memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Bucyrus First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Bucyrus Nazarene Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
