Greg Vaughn

Gregory D. Vaughn, 26, of Bucyrus passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center from injuries sustained in an accidental explosion on Labor Day.

He was born October 7, 1985 to Dennis and Joyce (Croneis) Vaughn who survive. He attended Wynford and Pioneer JVS and graduated with the Wynford Class of 2005. During high school, he was active in FFA and won the "Top Shot" award with his trap shooting team. Greg enjoyed his goat and pig projects as a member of the Holmes-Liberty Royal Lions 4-H Club and was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bucyrus. While in high school helping family build a barn, he was distracted by a young lady from Shelby named Tasha Miller who became the love of his life. They were married on May 8, 2010.

In addition to his parents and wife, Greg is survived by his brother, Brian (Kerri) Vaughn of Nevada; sister, Amy Vaughn of Bucyrus; stepsister, Gwyndolyn Vaughn of Florida; nephews, Bryton, Trent, Chase and Logan Vaughn; paternal grandparents, William and Pauline Vaughn, along with his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Onda Croneis.

Greg will be remembered as a fun loving, caring, happy guy who worked hard, adored his wife and was always the life of the party. He loved making people laugh whether it took pulling a prank, making funny noises, or just giving his one-of-a-kind grin. He enjoyed the outdoors where he could fish and hunt all sorts of game. Greg was a self-employed truck driver, a certified welder, and took pride in being able to fix things. He loved going fast whether in his pickup, or on a snowmobile, ATV or riding a Harley. On weekends, Greg could be found watching and helping at area truck pulls, hanging out with friends, or watching Ohio State football.

Greg's family will receive friends Tuesday, September 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's UCC in Bucyrus with Rev. Steven Voelker officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery. Those attending either gathering are encouraged to dress casual or wear their Ohio State apparel.
