Gloria Jean Morris (Rees - Harding)

Gloria Jean Morris, 82, of Bucyrus passed away Friday morning, May 22, 2015 at Altercare of Bucyrus under the care of HomeCare Matters Hospice.

She was born on July 26, 1932 in Bridgeport, Ohio to Evan and Olive (Harding) Rees. After her parents’ untimely deaths when she was an infant, Gloria was adopted by her maternal grandparents, Jacob and Carrie Mae (Sloan) Harding who also preceded her in death. Gloria graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1950 and married her classmate, Ron Morris on August 18, 1951 and moved to Bucyrus shortly thereafter when Ron began working for Swan Hose. They shared nearly 37 years of marriage until his death in June 1988.

Gloria and Ron were blessed with two sons, Kim, who died in 2009, and Randy Morris and his wife, Debbie who live near Atlanta, Georgia. Also surviving are her grandson, Steven Morris, and granddaughter, Sheri Wilson and her husband, Kenny along with two great grandsons, Evan Morris and Nick Wilson. Gloria also will be missed by two “lifetime” friends, Valdoris Reese and Pat Grover.

In addition to her parents, husband and son, Gloria was preceded in death by brothers, Paul E. Harding, E. Paul Rees and Kenneth Rees.

Gloria will be remembered as a happy person who loved to laugh and learn new things and was always willing to help others in need. She was a member of the former Epworth UMC. Her family would like to extend a special thank you for the care given by the HomeCare Matters Hospice staff.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 26 in Galion’s Fairview Cemetery with Chaplain Brandon Quail officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
