Glenn R. Cobb

Glenn R. Cobb, 82, of Bucyrus died peacefully Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Altercare of Bucyrus Center where he had been a resident for over six years.

He was born in Bucyrus on December 5, 1932 to the late Wallace Cobb and Mamie (Stuckert) Sharp. Glenn graduated from Holmes-Liberty High School in 1950 and was drafted to serve in the US Army in January 1953. He served until December 1954 and began working for The Timken Co. in Bucyrus where he met Helen V. Kraft who was a cook there. Glenn and Helen were married October 27, 1956 and she preceded him in death on December 30, 2001.

Glenn will be remembered as a big jokester who always had a story to tell. Since residing at Altercare, he could always be counted on to stop friend and stranger alike in the hallway to catch up on things. When he was healthier, Glenn loved to travel, visiting many places including the Smokey Mountains, Alaska and going “out west” where he could practice photography, one of his favorite hobbies. At home, he was a self-taught electrician, took care of many cats, and kept a large garden with prized tomato plants. He began worshipping at Victory In Truth Ministries with his son and family and quickly became involved in videography there. After retiring from Timken after 30 years, Glenn worked for Zarcone Cleaners and did lawn care at Heritage Circle.

Glenn is survived by his son, Mark Cobb of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Chet (Natalee) Cobb of Galion and Soncierea (Darren) Lease of North Lewisburg; great grandchildren, Chandler, Madison, Carlie, Dalton, Batai, and Larry; and sister-in-law, Laura May Cobb of Bucyrus.

In addition to his parents and wife of 45 years, Glenn was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Anita Cobb; stepfather, Johnny Sharp; and brother, Daryle Cobb.

The Cobb family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Monday, November 23 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where his funeral will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 pm with Pastor JC Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery where the US Army Honor Guard will perform military rites.

Memorial contributions can be given to Victory In Truth Ministries through the funeral home and memories are encouraged on Glenn’s Tribute Wall.
