Ginny L. Neighbor

Ginny Lee Neighbor, 67, of Bucyrus, died on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Bucyrus Community Hospital. While her death was unexpected of natural causes, Ginny would be proud to know that she assisted others as an organ and tissue donor.

She was born December 3, 1950 in Bucyrus to the late Robert and Winona (Stewart) McClain and was a 1969 graduate of Col. Crawford High School. Ginny then graduated from Virginia Computer College and, shortly thereafter, began working at Second National Bank in Bucyrus. She worked in the banking industry for several years before taking a position with the City of Bucyrus, working in the Income Tax Dept and then the Water Dept. This is where she met Roger Neighbor whom she married in July of 1991. Ginny later completed her realtor certification from Marion Tech, allowing her to assist folks with finding their dream homes; a career she retired from in 2016 and was last with Garberick Realty.

Ginny lived for her grandchildren and whether a swim meet, t-ball game, or choir concert, if they were in it, she was there. She also spent hours working with her flowers and will be remembered for her ability to make the “clearance flowers” (the ones everyone passed on) grow into something beautiful. Ginny enjoyed dog sitting for her daughter’s dogs, Keely and Talulah and always treated them as well as her two, Riley and Bailey. She had a magnetic personality and will be missed by many.

Ginny is survived by daughters, Jodi Hughes, Amy (Matt) Riley, and Gretchen Schmuck, all of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Eli Geyer, Brenden Hughes, Kian Hughes, Taryn Gathright, Jace Reame, Lane Riley, and Cade Riley as well as a sister, Connie (Howard) Peterson of Acworth, Georgia. In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Roger.

Family will visit with friends from 2-3:55 pm Saturday, June 2 at Wise Funeral Service, followed by her memorial service at 4:00 pm with Life Celebrant Mark Dettmer officiating.

Because of Ginny’s strong love for animals, friends are encouraged to make contributions payable to Humane Society Serving Crawford County and these donations will be accepted through the funeral home.
