Gertrude Scott

Gertrude J. Scott, 83, of Bucyrus died peacefully Thursday morning, August 27, 2015 at Altercare of Bucyrus.

She was born in Crawford County on May 12, 1932 to the late Robert and Lorena (Frost) Miller. Gertrude graduated from Sycamore High School in 1951 and worked at GE and Heartland of Bucyrus before retiring as a Home Health Aide for the elderly. She married Warren G. Scott on March 12, 1983 and he preceded her in death December 24, 2004.

Gertrude will be remembered as a loving mother to her three boys and for crocheting, gardening and canning. Hundreds of afghans, tablecloths and other projects were created at the end of her crochet hook over the years. She also had the opportunity to travel a number of places to visit friends and family including California, North Carolina and Hawaii. This led to a large collection of bells she would pick up as well as have brought to her from family who traveled. She collected owls as well and was always an animal lover, especially the dogs she enjoyed spoiling.

Gertrude is survived by two sons, Steven C. Rossman and Michael A. Rossman, both of Bucyrus; grandchildren, William R. Rossman, Jr. (Kendra) of Marion, Eric L. Rossman (Ashley) of Crestline, Shauna Rossman of Galion, Julie Rossman of Richmond, Ky., Leina Rossman and Christian Rossman, both of Griswold, Conn.; seven great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Brenda Rossman of Galion; and her brother, James Beaston of Selma, N.C.

In addition to her parents and husband of 21 years, she was preceded in death by her son, William R. “Dick” Rossman, Sr.; great grandson, Gage Berry; sisters, Mary Lawrence and Margie Shelton; and brother, Ronald Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 31 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with Pastor David Bliss officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 Noon until the service begins. Burial will follow in Oceola Cemetery.

Memorial donation may be given to HomeCare Matters Hospice, Humane Society Serving Crawford County or a charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home. Memories are encouraged in the Memorial Guestbook below.
