George M. Stipes

George M. Stipes, 58, of Bucyrus, died February 11, 2021 at his residence after his battle with cancer.



George was born September 28, 1962 to the late William “Billy” and Ona Jean (Goodwin) Stipes in Redondo Beach, California. His family moved to Ohio in his teens and he was raised in Lima most of his life. George graduated Shawnee High School before enlisting in the Air Force. He served from 1980 to 1982. George then worked for 18 years as a line worker for MetoKote. During that time, he married the love of his life Rebecca Bodine on October 11, 1997. Rebecca passed on May 31, 2012 due to illness.



George was a family man who loved his kids and grandkids. He would have a light in his eyes when his grandkids were around and enjoyed playing with them. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, he was watching 90210 or listening to classic rock. George had an array of rock CDs and he would play them at such a loud volume that you would think there was a concert at his home.



George is survived by his two sons Tanner Hazelton and Scott Ray; and grandchildren Rebecca Hazelton, Preston Hazelton, and Melody Ray. George was preceded in death by his wife of 14 years and his parents.
