Gene Blair, 78, of Bucyrus, died Thursday, March 27, 2025 from complications as result of house fire.
He was born April 9, 1946 in Nevada, Ohio to the late Glen and Louise (Brown) Blair. Gene attended school at Nevada through the 11th grade and graduated from the inaugural 1964 class of Wynford High School. He spent his entire adult life working for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad, a job which offered him great experiences and some unique sites along the way.
Gene enjoyed talking with others and wasn’t shy about striking up a conversation with anyone nearby. He spent many nights bowling at Suburban Lanes and was always up for a trip to Lake Erie for a day of fishing. There were a number of years when he owned a variety of snakes, including pythons and in more recent years, Gene cherished the companionship offered by his Siberian Huskies, Maverick and Misty.
He is survived by a sister, Linda Keller; niece and nephew, Angel (Mitchell) Hensley and Aaron (Lisa) Cudd; great nieces and nephew, Janey (Brock) Lohr, Autumn (Ethan Powers) Hensley and Memfis Blair along with great-great nephews and niece, Crew Powers, Bentley Lohr, Keegan Lohr and Aubrey Lohr.
In addition to his parents, Glen and Louise, Gene was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arl and Madge Blair and brother-in-law, Wally Keller.
There will be no public services for Gene and if desired, donations can be given through Wise Funeral Service. Online memories and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
