Gary Lee Doxey Jr.

Gary Lee Doxey, Jr., 34, of Bucyrus died of leukemia Saturday, October 22, 2011 at The James Cancer Hospital in Columbus.

He was born February 7, 1977 in Plainwell, Mich. to Gary Doxey, Sr. and Debra (Jack) Kruis. He graduated from Kentwood (Mich.) High School in 1995 and earned his Associates degree from the Univ. of Northwest Ohio in Lima. Gary caught the eye of Kathy Joseck in 1998 and they went on their first date May 1st. They were married November 20, 2004.

Gary is survived by his parents; loving wife, Kathy and their son, Zach; stepson, Derek Joseck; brother, Jeremy (Stephanie) Doxey; sisters, Tammy Doxey-Miller, Jackie Kruis, Missy Kruis and Carrie Ames and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doris Doxey.

Gary will be remembered as a reliable and all-around "good guy" who was always willing to help a friend or stranger in need. He loved his tools, muscle cars and the Michigan Wolverines. He was excited to be surprised by a visit from UM All-American, Marcus Ray who gave him an autographed copy of his book just the day before his death. Gary's love of cars carried over in his work as a mechanic at Mel's Auto Care and he worked as a caretaker for the rest area on US 30. Gary fueled his competitive nature with lively euchre games and cornhole tournaments with Renee and Jeff Aicher and was a member of Bucyrus Moose Lodge 669.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 27 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service where the funeral will be held Friday at 6 p.m. with Pastor Paul Dalrymple officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wise Funeral Service to assist Gary's family with expenses.
