Gail Ann Kozinski, 75, died, Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Orchard Park following an extended illness.
She was born, June 10, 1942 in Canton to the late Harold A. and Geraldine I. (Fowler) Gussett. Gail attend school at Perry High School in Canton and on January 11, 1960, she married Lawrence L. Kozinski. The two-continued living in Canton where Gail worked in the Canton Christian Home and ran a ceramic business; teaching others the art for about five years.
Larry’s job led them to Bucyrus in 1980 and shortly thereafter, Gail became the Production Manager in the food service for Bucyrus schools. From then on, Gail was referred to as “the lunch lady” and will be remembered for her amazing cookies. She strove to make a nutritional difference in the lives of students until retiring in the mid-90s. Around this time, they purchased a second home in Naples, Florida, which allowed them the opportunity to golf year-round. In fact, many of their close friends did the same thing, so there were many good times spent golfing or playing bocce ball.
While living in Canton, Gail was a member of the Perry Christian Church where she was active in Vacation Bible School and served as a youth group leader. The entire family spent many weekends camping, keeping cousins close and creating many memories. Gail had attended the Bucyrus Nazarene Church. She loved being active in the lives of her grandchildren and enjoyed watching their sporting events. She also followed the Indians, Cavs and even the Browns. Gail was involved with Friends of the Library; golfed many rounds at the Bucyrus Country Club and enjoyed socializing with her close friends at the Moose or the Elks. In addition to golfing, Gail enjoyed reading, camping, doing ceramics and her heart was happiest at the beach.
She is survived by four children, Christine (Jerry) Hughes of Aiken, SC, Kelly Smith, Cindy Leitzy and Craig (Holly) Kozinski all of Bucyrus; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and one sister, Connie (Donald) Turner of North Canton. Gail was preceded in death by Larry, her husband of 51 years.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 15 at Perry Christian Church, 139 Perry Dr. NW, Canton, Ohio 44708 with Pastor Rod Geiger officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made payable either to Perry Christian Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820 who assisted with her arrangements.
